Production costs
To give an idea of why the books are a bargain relative to their development costs, here are just two items of expenditure undertaken by the publisher for Book One alone.
Printing by Cambridge University Press £42,000 Designer (design, page layout, maps, etc) £25,000
That doesn’t take into account the other costs, including that of the CD’s music copyright fees and manufacture, computer/scanning hardware and top-of-the-range design/photo editing software, plus marketing, transport, etc.
Neither will the author receive payment for his five years work, since sales will merely balance part of the production costs. That makes the special offer price of £39.95 and £32.95 seem extremely reasonable. Indeed, a subsidised bargain.
